Quality & rights

Your care, your rights and your feedback

Your care should reflect your wishes, routines and what matters to you. We work with you and the people important to you to plan support and help you take part in decisions.

Having a say

Tell us about the things that matter to you: your routines, interests, relationships, what you want help with and how you prefer to communicate. We support people to make choices and take part in decisions in ways that work for them.

What families tell us

Feedback from our children’s respite service highlights kind, flexible staff, children enjoying activities and valuable time for the wider family.

Feedback helps us understand people’s experience of the service. We value the experiences that families share with us.

Service information and safeguarding

Clear information helps people and families understand a service and take part in decisions. Contact us if you need information in a different format or help to understand it.

Finding the right support

We take time to understand each person’s needs, interests and communication so that support can be planned with them and their family.

Our team can talk you through the services available and answer your questions.

Safeguarding and speaking up

Everyone receiving support has the right to be safe and treated with dignity and respect. Tell a member of staff or contact DMAC if something worries you. You can ask for the relevant safeguarding contact or for a copy of the service’s Child Safeguarding Statement.

A family member, representative or advocate can help you raise a concern. If someone is in immediate danger, call 112 or 999.

Information for children and families

Service information and guides are provided directly to children, adults and families in formats suited to their communication needs. Contact DMAC to discuss the information you need.

Our approach to care

We want people to feel safe, respected and involved in their care. Our approach brings together individual support, family involvement and listening to feedback.

Raising a concern or complaint

You can raise a concern in person, by phone or by email. A family member, representative or advocate can support you. We will explain the complaints process and the options for review.

How do I make a complaint?

Tell a member of staff, the Person in Charge or the DMAC team that you wish to make a complaint. You can ask for the Complaints Officer. Explain what happened, what you would like to see happen and how you would prefer us to contact you. We can help you communicate your concern.

What happens next?

Your complaint will be recorded, acknowledged and considered fairly. We will explain who is dealing with it and keep you informed. You will be told the outcome and any actions arising.

What if I am not satisfied?

Ask for the complaint to be reviewed. We will explain the internal review arrangements and the relevant external options. The appropriate external route depends on the service and the issue raised.

Can someone help me?

Yes. A family member, representative or advocate can help you understand information or raise a concern. Tell us if you need information in a different format or support with communication.
